The road would have to be better than the NSW section of the Hume Hwy, or the Western Ring Rd in Melbourne, or the Monash Freeway.

I am sure there are many major sections of road we can all come up with that are terrible. In Fact I will start a new thread on them. Please don't reply here. I am off topic already, and willing to admit it.

65ehpv, I can remember talking to some of the WA guys at previous events and some had put their cars in a container that was then shipped by rail. Do you know what carrier does this, I'd like to check it out? I'd also like to do the nullabor in an old 'olden, so thinking of sending the Munro by rail and driving over in a HK ute, depends on the overall costs.

G'day Bullit.

Ive been reading this thread for a while and was wondering what the hell is going on..

Obviously your kind a pi**ed about the price increase. As an observer though, I would like to raise a few points:

1. If it wasnt for the couple of hundred more for entry, would you have come over here for the event?

2. It is a simple fact that many things in WA cost more than the rest of the country (and yes, in may cases substantially more). Them compound that with a likely drop in East Coast entrant numbers (which i think you would have to agree would be down for a whole range of logistical reasons such as distance, transportation, time, etc).

3. It doesnt appear that you know what the program is (though i don't either) and so making comment at this stage is likely premature.

4. You seem to be suggesting that the price increase is a rort. Interesting point...you must believe that either the club is using the money it is budgeting on coming in for (a) something to do with the event (which as indicated above, it appears you don't know) or (b) they are somehow seeking to make a profit off the event or otherwise using the money for something else (which appears to be your thought process).

5. Interesting comment that the persons who have the hobby and want to show their cars in an appropriate place, have them judged by experts in their field and meet with other hobbyists who have the same passion for a bi-annual event should not have to pay to do so ....... (even though i would guess that ticket sales would have also been budgeted and probably caused the cost to be less than it otherwise would).... I suspect that this would mean that Joe public short pay even more for your fun....

I suppose its why i have moved away from clubs - i have no interest in the bitching that goes on....(worse than my missues with the P & C).

My thoughts for what their worth.

If you were a tight for money you could be an entrant at 2010 Nationals
for $125.00

and if you entered early you received a free cap posted to you.

caps were priced at $15.00

Sundays event the drags was $40.00 + $5.00 for the licence if you wanted to do it

mark when they released the prices they should have inlcuded what we get for that money.... if you give people a big price increase they should at least know what they get and they didnt.... the website lists the same events as the last 2 nationals except for no drag racing....judging by the venues they have chosen and people that know say they are very expensive why??? the average
joe would be just as happy sitting around eating fish n chips looking at cars and enjoying other peoples company ect....you dont need expensive wine places to do that to have a great event just look at the 3 previous nationals all affordable to the average family....also as i said in my previous posts the answers i got from them when i questioned them regarding prices was a joke...to tell me your already paying thousands whats a few more hundred what would you think....also the prices had only been out 2 days i said to them you may not get a lot of entries because of the prices you want....they then informed me they have lots of entries already which is crap as entries were only released 2 days prior to clubs.... general public didnt know yet....as to me attending if it was cheaper yes i would have....

Bob,

We sent our cars over and back using CEVA. The provide a fully enclosed service, ie not sitting on the back of a truck in the open.

I do beleive that the boxes then go by rail.

I trust this helps?

Greetings, As an outsider I would have thought a Nationals event was about the cars. Bullit has some good input in regards this. The program is two days of scrutineering followed by a show'n'shine on Saturday, then on Sunday a cruise to a winery for lunch followed by the presentation dinner with a brunch next day. I don't see much car type stuff in all this. The winery lunch is probably the best part of $100 and the dinner maybe $50 so it is not hard to see how the base entry fee is $270. Sounds more like a foodie event than a car one with all the included eating scheduled. And why not given the bombardment of such shows on television lately? Whatever happened to a car event where all you need is a chiko roll, a coke and a smoke to keep your hands busy whilst you blab on about car stuff?
look out, the guru is coming through...
