Does anyone know of a supplier that carries EH door seals that actually stay on the doors? There seems to be a claim by the �manufacturers� that by using plastic retaining clips they are protecting your car from potential rust problems. I believe this to be BS and the use of plastic clips is a cost saving exercise only.
My seals which have now been fitted for 18 months have too many broken clips to mention and where the seal has to conform to an internal bend I see massive air gaps.
Please someone tell me someone out there gives a toss and is willing to provide a product that actually works.
If any manufacturer is reading this please remember not all of us want the cheapest product, many of us want the BEST product regardless of cost. In the long run one good set will cost me less than the 2 or 3 I will buy to try and get something that does the job. EDIT I just noticed 3 broken clips on the boot rubber also. Why am I not surprised�

I feel your pain. The rubbers on my EH and clips are still good after 18 years. The clips are the early white ones.

Any later grey clips are crap and break. I have fitted hundreds of door rubbers, and those grey clips are nothing but trouble.

I dont think the seals are a problem, just the clips. Contact your suppliers head office, and they will send out some new clips.

I must say, I bought & fitted a set of door rubbers to an EH sedan about 2 years ago. To date, I have had absolutely no issue with clip damage or rubbers not holding position, particularly on the rear door wheel arch area. When fitting, I did make sure that the clips were pushed completely into the locating holes. Once fitted, the clips had no chance to wobble or allow the rubber to slip off the clips either.
I sourced them through Bill Thompson Auto Rubbers in Melbourne. The product, from memory, was produced by Rare Spares anyway, but at the time I chose to spend my money with the smaller supplier that was closer to home.
The car is used on a weekend basis & I am pleasently surprised at the quality of these particular rubbers.

Hi, HARRISONS EARLY HOLDEN & FORD SPARES can solve your door seal problems, as we have our own rubber manufacturer.The rubber is made out of a high quality EDPM rubber with a better designed clip that won't fall out & can be reused.The rubber is the closest on the market to the original extrusion,it has a hollow through the centre of the rubber to allow the seal to compress when closing the door so you dont have to slam it. The door seal clips are made out of a high quality (new) material,which has tags on all 4 sides for a more secure fit.The door seal plugs that go into the door shell have also been improved, they have had groves put inside them & they are made of a softer plastic than the door seal clips to allow the clips to bite into the plug for a perfect secure fit. They wont break or fall out. Fitted properly,you will have no water leaks or air leaks & wont have to slam your doors.We make these up in house for EJ-WB door seals, boot & spare wheel door seals. You will be more than happy with the quality of our parts,we have specialised in the

The rubbers I am having trouble with were in fact purchased new from EH HOLDEN WORLD back in April 2005. I purchased All 4 doors, boot, stainless bailey channels and belt seals from you. These were finally fitted in December 2010 after being stored away in the sealed bags they came in.
Would you let me know if the extrusion and clips you currently use are the same as those you used back then as I am not happy with the ones I have. It's the clips mainly that are failing. A think there would be at least 20 broken already.
I am not by an means anal about these things and don't demand perfection. I do however expect something to do the job reasonably well and not fail almost immediately.
I am only too happy to send you pictures to show you the issues I have.
From the many people I have spoken to and asked for opinions from your name continually comes up as the best product on the market. You will notice a posting earlier in this thread from a competitor of yours offering assistance so I am sure this problem I have is not uncommon.
I hope you are going to tell me your current product is different to the one I have as I am disappointed with it.

Hi mate,fistly i think your confusing me with the guy that was in Sydney i think or down there somewhere. I'm sure he called himself EH WORLD & hasn't been in business for many years now. I'm located in Brisbane & had to cancell "EH HOLDEN WORLD" over 20 years ago.
I can guarantee what i'm selling is completly different from whatever you bought back in 2005 & probably 200% better.
Another thing i forgot to mention is that we make our door seals user friendly by fitting a bright orange clip where there joined.This is to show you where your starting point is as the clips are closer together on the join only & you need to start at this point, which is on the bottom of the door shell, otherwise if you start anywhere the seal won't fit when you come to this point & you'll have to pull it all off the door & start again. Were also going to include fitting instructions so they don't get fitted back the front. You'd be surprised how many we see fitted backwards & many by panel beaters who should know better.
I'm well aware of the problems your having with the seals you purchased, it's a big problem & many customers have the same issues as you. The good news is we've solved the problem & have made the seals that are better than genuine & will last even longer. I'm not knocking the genuine seals, they were very good & there are many still on cars today. The thing is were nearly 50 years down the track & with new technology & materials,there would be something wrong if we couldn't make them better.In saying that there is a lot of crap on the market,usually made by cowboys that think their going to get rich overnight selling rubbish on the net thats cost them bugger all to make. These guys come & go.I hope this answers your questions, cheers, Paul.

Great, I'm glad you responded as I was becoming disillusioned with the whole thing. Yes the company I purchased from was in Melbourne. This means that the product you are selling is definitely not what I have now.
I have fitted a few sets of these over the years and will admit the first ever set I fitted were installed back the front.
I can now go ahead and purchase your product knowing it will be better than what I have now.
Again thanls for the help.

PS if you were after someone to do a long term field evaluation of your product I would happily volunteer. Was that subtle enough??? :)

Classic and muscle cars, do you guys have a website, or can I email you my address for a list. I am restoring a 4 door HQ and am thinking of changing the seals. I'm not happy with what's on there now.
