Does anyone have the part numbers for an MSD dizzy, coil and matching Ignition control. The engine i'm running is a 308/355 stroker.

the control box wont matter, but if youre spending the money anyway look at the 6al2 programmable which lets you dial in timing curves with a laptop, pull timing where/when you want and is generally an awesome bit of gear.
coil, get one that suits the 6 series, most in that range are extended duty (ie street use) but when you get up to the 7 series stuff there are coils that wont like extended use and are more suited to short duration stuff (drags)
msd dizzy part number i cant help you with, ill go have a flick through the book and see what i can find but honestly, id rather just use a good HEI with the advance locked out and let the 6al2/p do everything else, the only "benefit" i can see to the msd dizzy is the plug in loom and the purty billet body. Not really worth the 300 odd bucks for me personally but go for your life if thats what you want.

FWIW ive seen heaps and heaps of engine dyno stuff where the fancy ignitions havent made more than a handful of hp more on <500hp stuff that has a proper operating HEI, and no ignition in the world will fix a bad carb tune.

Hey man, ICE ignition services and Performance Ignition Services are both Australian and just as good if not better than MSD. Both are located in Melbourne and know their way around Holden motors. Cheers Al

I have a full MSD system fitted to my HQ 355. I am dissapointed with a product that I beleived was the best out there. My motor was ready to go on the dyno when my builder opened the box of the new MSD Distributor to fit it. The inside of the dissy was badly corroded. The small coloured washer things were so corroded you could hardly tell what colour they were.We had to fit the dissy as I was paying for the dyno time. After the motor was fitted to my ute I sent it to Rockets to have it replaced - no such luck - I had fitted it so it was not exchangeable - they tested it and said it works fine and sent it back. Also - the control module appears to be put together poorly - the Tacho connector on the side of the unit wobbles around like a dick in a bucket. On the positive side - It has demonstated to produce a spark under the worst conditions - i.e. when I first fitted the motor the carby was running so rich that I was using close to 1 litre per kilometre (no lies) - If I had to sit at traffic lights for an extended period of time I would be wondering how this thing is ever going to take off - but it would accelerate perfectly with no missing - the plugs must have looked like they had been dipped in tar. So. it works very well. If I was buying now I would be looking at the ICE or Crane or something that at least looks like its better quality. I have attached a photo of the inside of the brand new Dissy. Hope this helps a bit. Let The Good Times Roll - Ray.

Hello,
I have just installed an ICE electronic system into my LX Torana 308/355 stroker. This gear (Complete) cost me $1300 drive in drive out. After checking out all the info on both systems i was told to go with the ICE system. This has made a big, big diffrence to the power. Money well spent. Has a rev limiter, 12 dial in tune curves and a bunch of different settings that you can tune to. You must check out the ICE before you buy the MDS system.
