Hey guys I just picked up a export ht Monaro. It has the usual tag in the pillar. I noticed it had no firewall number??? I asked the question that it was not there.is that because it was export they never stamped. Them. Also what do I need to register in Vic . Can you guys throw som light on the subjects please

That is correct, export to South Africa did not have a firewall number.

Not sure how you register them.

thats correct dave..but they dont have a chassis number...Just sussing the rego side
its obviously possible but what hoops to jump through

5849 built up for export and 15409 for complete knockdown, these figures cover All HT models that went o/s.

you should have export paperwork from sth africa, rego papers from sth africa and the import paperwork in australia with the car. I have 2 of these, one had a floor tag and the other did not but it could of rusted off (1 had a good floor the other is rusty) as they are spot welded under the seat as davo says. i would think if you have all the right paperwork then rego would'nt be a problem.

I imported my SS Chevrolet about 2 years ago. THe rrego guys did pick up that I didn't have a firewall tag but only advised I get one as if the car was stolen it would be a problem trying to find the cart. At the time I had forgotten about the tag under the front seat. So whould not be a problem especially as from what I hear here in W.A it is a lot harder to get a car registered.I was also required to get an Engineering Certificate prior to taking it to the rego boys which I did and got it passed and registered first time. Hope that helps and is not to late.
