Was the saginaw an option in all HK models prior to the release of the Monaro? If so, was it available at the start of the HK release?.Thanks.

Opel introduced in HR so yes. Was used on 6 cylinder Torana as well and was replaced in 7/71, for domestic, with Aussie 4 speed.

Not available on commercial though.

In the next town from me, there is a guy that has a HK Panel Van,factory bucket seats, short console and opel gearbox. Two weeks ago, the Panel Van was parked in the main street, so I went over and had a chat with the owner.I wouldnt of believed it until I saw it myself.

I don't think you could order a seat separator (option code D55) and 4spd in a HK-HG commercial, you certainly couldn't in HG. D55 was mandatory with bucket seats but not with 4spd in HG commercial, I always thought HK-HT were the same. You also could never get an Opel 4spd Commercial as far as I am aware. I'd say the one you saw was originally a bucket seat 3spd car and it was converted early in its life.

Does anybody know which version Saginaw was used behind a HK 307 sedan, wagon or commercial? Not including Monaro. Cheers.

M21 (2.54, 1.8, 1.44, 1). All V8 HK 4spd are the same box, and it was available on 6cyl other than commercials. 6cyl commercials used the M22 Saginaw (2.85, 2.02, 1.35, 1).

I pulled a Saginaw out of a 6cyl Prem wagon to put into a 6cyl HK ute I built in the early 80s. before I put that in I had used an Opel 4speed shifter on a 3 speed crashbox.
Cheers,
Pete.
