That's about it. On the VT they got the engine covers painted red, but no HSV badge - this was the time when the HSV 5.0L enhanced upgrade was dropped off, and it was taken over by HBD.
Cheers,

Mick

The VT sequential 195 engine got a bit bigger cam than the 179KW and i think it is the same as the 5.7L cam.
And the exhaust valve is different as it has the valve stem cut thinner from the head up to the guide area.

When i bought my 179KW VS III ute i wanted the 195 KW but they had no more left. just chip and exhaust 179 KW will not hose off the 195KW with exhaust and chip.

cheers guys. i bought it, gotta go up to tweed heads to pick it up next weekend. the bloke who i bought it from has had it for 5 months and hasn't had it serviced in that time, and i have to drive it 1400km. it's already done 220 thousand, but it is what im after and im not going to have it forever so im not really fussed about k's on it. it'll be a weekend when i pick it up and im on a ridiculously tight budget, so taking it for a full service is pretty much out of the picture. what do you reckon i should do to it before i drive it home? i can afford to change oil, coolant, gearbox oil and brake pads, all depending on condition..any suggestions would be appreciated

Agree. Just do the oil, filter. I'd look at the coolant, but it should be fine. Check tyre pressures and pull the front wheels off and check the pads too to make sure they have 1400kM of material left! Pads are cheap and only need basic tools to change them. You can tell if the tranny fluid is fine by colour and smell.
