I have a chassis and 3 matching i.d plates for 7/73 HQ LS coupe was silver 308 auto was rear ended 22 years ago, dismantled 5 years ago. Due to it's low value then it wasn't insured.I am thinking i will sell these parts now.Any ideas how much?? or just ebay it.Note checked with transport dept legal to sell plates with chassis as they are matched.

You might still find it is not quite kosher to sell it as you are doing. In most States it is not exactly legal to affix an ADR plate to a shell it didn't originate on. I doubt the ad would run its course on Ebay, they usually get pulled. If some of the shell remained with the tags attached it might slip through but I doubt it.

What driveline was it originally? L20, L32, L31 or L30?

Was Eng: L31 = 308,Trans: M40 = Trimatic and Diff: GU4 = 3.08:1.Was ex-victoria police when new and i bought it from a cop long after police service, lovely car had lots of rust when it got smashed.I still wasn't sure so contacted ebay and they said plates must be sold with chassis and must be unregistered, have clear title and not be written off. I said to the girl on the phone at ebay are you sure thats all we need to do and she said stick to these conditions and you won't have a problem.Still abit unsure..... Just curious how much this is worth i have no further use for this stuff and thought someone may be able to use it to repair or rebuild an LS coupe.

Even if it is OK for you to sell it that way, most States claim it is illegal to fit the ADR tag to another body. I cannot be GU4 on the plates as there is no such code in HQ.

Thanks for advice will cut up plates think best to just take chassis to scrap. The number on it won't match the donor vehicles compliance plate numbers, rendering it useless. So to fit this chassis to another car would also be illegal,as a vehicle would now have two chassis numbers and you can't have that.Bottom line....I just want my shed space back.Sorry gave you incorrect diff code build plate hard to read (white corrosion)cleaned with scour pad looks like GV1 or GV4.I remember the pinion plate used to have 3.08:1 stamped on it when i changed pinion seal, assuming no one replaced it at some time.Doesn't matter now all in the past where this crapper belongs...

Chassis can be re-used on another vehicle no dramas, that is allowed and it doesn't matter if they don't match the ADR plate. I'd just keep the plates for your own piece of memorabilia, no need to destroy them! GV1 would be right for 3.08.

I actually know where there are two sets of these exact specification ID plates, both from cars that were rusted beyond help and wrecked out to save others. I think one is a later 1968 Pagewood car (so early type) and the other is a second type not sure which assembly plant.

Don't just chuck the chassis out Skip. What state are you in? Id tags look good framed on the wall. I've got a few Monaro sets up there with a picture of a similar car. A good straight chassis could be reused as well. Think my HQ mas a HX chassis under it or something. Was thinking of finding a HQ one just for a bit more continuity.

Got any of the chrome trim left from your smashed coupe or have you sold it all already?
