Not exactly sure we looked in au series 1,2 and 3 workshop manual and auto code is Z for the 5 litre where as ours is W it feels like it is changing into another gear but could be what you said until we can talk to someone who knows the car or the builder I will say its 4 speed the car is not really driven at high speeds only highway speeds
