My HQ is a 74 and i'm thinking about repainting my rims in Aquamarine to match the body, I've seen some HK's with maroon, aqua, white and black rims, but can't recall seeing HQ's in anything other than silver or black (from factory) and white which I think were painted by the owner at the time maybe? I love the look of American 60's and early 70's muscle cars with the factory body coloured rims, I think it would suit the HQ body style...

I have read somewhere that one series had painted wheels with a certain option like 2-tone paint, or something like that. I'll see if I can find it. Having said that, HZ had body coloured wheels on early GTS. This was on the cars fitted with the steel N66 rally rims and not optioned with PE1 rims (14x7 honeycomb), and was only until the N66 rims were replaced by the alloy N67 rally rims mid 1978. Basically the N66 rally rims were painted body colour (and black or silver - can't remember which) on GTS. |

I just had a look and HQ Monaro had body colour dependant wheel colours, there were some wheels that were body colour and others that were a different colour. |

Mr Jones, you just sparked some very fond memories of my Grandfathers Patina gold white roof HQ. Now I do remember he had gold wheels. I've always said that my love of HQ's came from that excact car, I have had 8 HQ's and never got a hold of that colour, I even bought brown interior when I was about 20 just to build one in his honor.
Thanks for your time guy's, I love learning as much as I can about the mighty HQ. HK1387 if you find that info that would be awesome! I think I can get away with Aquamarine wheels. It's only paint, if it looks crap it's back to silver.

I have a set of GTS rims on my HQ that I recently put on. I remember seeing somewhere the gunmetal grey inside with the silver outside. This is what I ended up painting my rims. They do look good. Well I think so anyway.
