Hello everyone,
I put a new pinion oil seal in my small salisbury diff a few days ago and obviously didnt do it quite right.
After slotting the diff back in and filling it up with oil the bloody thing leaks, of course!
So, after nearly breaking my back lobbing diffs around last weekend is it at all posible to somehow plaster that flange infront of the unijoint (thats where it's leaking), with somekind of sealant and hope it holds? Or is it just mmmaybe ok to run a diff safely with abit less oil? as in, when he oil level gets beneath that flange? lol
Because I sure as hell dont wanna replce another bloody seal, carrying diffs around is one thing, working under a car with leaky diff and crook back is another. I'm too old fer this crap! help please!

hey pal , sounds like a real pain, I guess you know the oil level doesnt need to be higher than the lower level of the oil filler plug at the back of the diff ... any excess oil should be let to run out , if the car is level..in saying this i think unfort

I am no diff expert but i believe the Salisburys have a crush washer that has to be replaced when the diff is removed /replaced or the big nut undone. I understand they are not available new.
Maybe there is someone who knows?

I was just wondering why you are carrying the diff around. The usual thing is to change the seal with the diff in the car and it should only take a few minutes.
Before you blame the seal, is the diff breather still open or is it blocked? If i

Thanks alot for the helpful replies guys, yea it's a right pain!
The whole diff was out because I replaced my old, very noisy 2.78 ratio with another 3.08 ratio I bought secondhand, and was told by the previous owner that I should probably replace the oi
