At a guess I would say that it has been converted to KPH.

Yes is 161 or 186, but could be any manual column box, crash or 3 speed. (auto choke is for engine not gearbox) If column not shown could have been glide, opel or saginaw

I was going to ask our NZ friends when they did change to metric road signs.
According the Wikipedia, they changed in 1969 & we changed in 1970, but as usual they are not correct. Australia changed in 1973.
I have seen metric speedos in older Holdens (back to EK actually) but they've usually been from Sth Africa or Indonesia etc.
I couldn't make out the printed letters on the lower edge of the speedo face in the photo. Does it say KPH or MPH ? It doesn't look like a 'K' yet is too narrow for an "M'.

Doesn't take much to speak nicely to people, Especially when you're running a business.

Owner is claiming in the ad that it is a 200MPH speedo. "Not a sticker and no KPH markings"
So it must say MPH where we cant quite see what it says.

Having a closer look at the photo reveales that the MPH (if that's what is says) is actually printed on the mask or surround & the speedo face is a separate item behind that.
So you could take a normal (MPH) instrument cluster & fit an export KPH speedo to it & the MPH lettering would still be seen. Hey Presto !! a 200 MPH HK speedo.

My dad was an instrument fitter during that changeover to KPH, and he fitted many of those dusl speed stickers.
One day we were going through his stuff and he had a heap of metric speedo faces for pre 73 cars. I asked why he had them and he said it was cheaper, in some cases, to buy the metric face from the manufacturer than to buy the sticker. So he purchased them instead, fitting them to many cars. (he did have some Holden ones as these were exported to metric countries)
So if that instrument went to someone who wanted it convereted and the instrument fitter had metric HK fascias they may not have had the KPH fascia which is a seperate part. Thats my theory on this one.
