What info do you need ??
Do you want to know what equipment was standard or do you want to know what was available (at extra cost) on the options list.
An HQ GTS was a pretty basic car in standard form. About all it had over a Monaro, in terms of equipment, was L32/M20/M11 (253 V8 & 4-speed manual console shift), sports instruments, 6-inch rallye wheels & front disc brakes. Obviously internal & external trim was changed (carpet, steering wheel, black-outs etc.) but compared to today's cars pretty basic. Even things like radio & clock were all extra cost options.

In HQ there is 6 x different models for the coupes:
6cyl Monaro V8 Monaro 6cyl Monaro LS V8 Monaro LS Monaro GTS Monaro GTS350
Monaro is the Kingswood level coupe and this is what Dr Terry means when he says Monaro. |

Yes, the car you have is a Monaro GTS, but there is a lesser model simply called Monaro. I was comparing your GTS to a 'plain' Monaro. The plain Monaro has the same trim level as a Kingswood. There are then 3 more Monaros above that in the HQ series. They are:- Monaro LS (basically a Premier coupe) Monaro GTS (your car) Monaro GTS 350 Those 4 cars comprise the coupe range. There are also 2 Monaro GTS sedans, (GTS & GTS 350). Dr Terry edit:- When referring to the various models I didn't separate the 6 & V8 versions, even though that's how they are numbered in HQ. |

no not a waste of time the letter can give you some details, but if you want more info I would ask HK1837 to put you in contact with the monaro register.. |

It isn't a waste, but it may take 2 or 3 tries for them to get it right. In the end you know more than them about your car anyway. |

i need to ask this question that i have been thinking about while i ponder an uncertain future in this country as a native born here; why is it that whenever someone asks about the "monaro register",why is it that you need to pass on your detail and details of the vehicle to someone else that will pass it onto benjamin or whoever drives the register??? why cant anyone just email direct? or have access to this register??? any answers would be most welcome

The way I see it, if everyone has Ben's email address he'd be totally swamped with not only sensible questions on Monaros, but how many were made in purple with orange trim and 202 etc. By having a dozen or so different contacts to get the info through silly questions like that can be shared around and filtered or not get as far as Ben so only sensible questions do. Basically the "pain" for want of a better word gets shared around. Example: I can answer what most ID plate data means, often i'll blind copy Ben in on the answer so the data gets through to him and I tell the person sending me the data and asking the question(s) that i've blind copied Ben in. Any really hairy or obscure stuff i'll ask Ben to comment and i'll send that onto the original requestor too. Normally I get asked how many were mde with 253 and trimatic etc, and that sort of stuff is easy: no-one knows. This is how I do it anyway, not sure about Paul, Warren, Durwin etc, but i'm sure it is something similar. Hope that helps! |

Toby I have just emailed you back. HK1837 you beat me to it but my answer is basically the same. I answer what I can and send the ID details through to Ben for more information if any is available. Ben is interested in any ID, trim and paint details of most of the models as they all help tell part of the overall story of things. I have sent Ben a lot of my collected information and details over time and it is amazing just what he spots in it. I suspect that if he was answering emails from everyone all the time he would not have the time to actually analyze all the information he does have and is being supplied by others. Cheers Paul.

the owner of GT ford performance in melb gets over 200 emails per day regarding trivial questions to colors, build dates, changes in production etc etc etc and manages to answer them all without a drama and no complaints and david also collects and collates info from all the various modesl, historian mark baraclough gets thousands per week as well, bill shaw hemi guru gets millions, maybe they have a different coping stradegy??? or maybe they just one of us mere mortals??? all good though, we always have here or many other forums to ask if unsure, or ask me, i'll put you on the right track!!!
