Finally seriously looking at converting the HQ 253 to LPG, and intend to fit dedicated gas not dual fuel. When I rebuilt the enigine 18 mths ago had a towing/gas cam fitted and hardened valve seats etc fitted.

Has anyone done in this in the Sydney and can recommend a good gas fitter prepared to get it right?

The local bloke I visited week end before last gave me a blank stare when I mentioned it was a HQ and didn't have much to add about getting the dizzy regraphed etc. Took my name and number and promised to get back to me Monday. Never heard from again guess it wasnt a Falcon or Commodore and was too hard!

Are there any other available options for dedicated gas carby's besides Impco 425 and GRA single/double throttle etc that woudl suit a mild 253.

Any help and advice would be good before I shell out the cold hard cash,

thanks Scott

See our collective posts on "economical superchargers". You wont see a saving for a least 3-4 yrs after the conversion.

I disagree with the savings, I have LPG on 2 cars one 253 and one VS V6 , the 253 took about 1and half years and the VS a bit over 12 months , both cars are daily drivers the VS does a lot of driving as a mobile office as such.
Even so my dad had his VT

I too am looking to change to LPG but don't like the look of the carbie mixer combo setup (+ they leak), not the show look I'm after. I found a site www.gasresearch.com.au that have dedicated LPG units with installed pics, even one of our old V8 holdens i
