This guy has a very rose-coloured version of history. With both Milton Morris & Evan Green no longer with us, who is there to verify his version of events.
I'm not sure he knows a lot about car production either, with this comment:-
" The car then went to Fords special vehicle operations workshop where cloth seats were fitted (to stop the drivers sliding around on vinyl), radios and airconditioning units removed and windows tinted to keep cabin temperatures down."
Radios & airconditioners removed ???

IMO the reporting standards have really taken a nosedive as the popularity of the online media has gone the other way. It seems they care very little about facts, accuracy & cross-checking the information 'printed' in the articles these days, on many occasions.
May as well be copying straight of internet bulletin boards - nah, can't do that, they might copy Dr Terry's posts, and the articles will end up far more accurate.... |
Cheers,

The article of the day did mention that these car could not be aforded by the average person, but would eventually arrive on the second hand market, thus into the hands of inexperienced drivers. But lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story. As for Bowden's phase IV, it is a GT set up to phase 4 specs for racing. No diffferent to the LH L34s that became LX A9Xs. If you can sell a LH race car that became an LX race car as an A9X, then Bowden's got a phase IV, otherwise he has a talked up XA GT. Yes I missed the tinted windows (finished reading the article before I got to that point) for keeping it cooler, but it should have tinted windows from the Air conditioning Warren Edited by user Tuesday, 26 June 2012 2:28:00 AM(UTC)

Typicial journalist, look at me I changed society, you guys all hated me but I changed the world. The supercar era was over by 1972,the yanks were down on hp,oil shortages, pollution regs were the grim reapers calling card for "supercars".Where in the article is there a call for advanced driver training,a ban on selling the remaining supercars, oops forgot about that. Don,t worry that you can buy a 190kw commodore or xr6 on "P" plates but you don,t get killed the airbags fix that problem but the kids still crash big time. Thats right this journo no longer works for the government. So now no need to save the world with his insightfull views of the australian motoring landscape. By the way no one would have noticed the passing of this milestone except for the person who orchestrated the affair wrote an article about it. Damn just choked on my VB!

Would the prices of the late 60's early 70's Aus muscle cars be worth as much now if it wasnt for this article? Would the XY Phase III be worth the same dollars if the muscle cars were allowed to evolve? Just a thought.

Probably not, if the Phase IV was as good as all the hype said it was going to be, and the V8 XU-1 competed with and beat it. Both of those cars would be the ones to have assuming it all stopped after them! |

More of a ****fest for the frod appologists and the "Phase 4 1/2' Get This Heap Out mob.
Notice how they always have to qualify their tarted up fairmonts as " the fastest 4 door in the world"
Like 4 doors over 2 makes it some kind of "legend"

I don't see what the big deal is about all this bathurst wining BS. GT-HO big deal as you could do your GT XA-B-C up to be better anyway if you wanted to back then. A LJ Torana with a V8 would be a rubbish car to drive on the road. hang on it was rubbish with a 6 in it.
