Bad:
Engines lost power into 1969.
Good:
Dealer mods to make them stronger like tailshaft, and other mods like holes in aircleaner, holes in radiator support for brake cooling.

HT 1837 was better in every way except for how it looked! Brakes, wheels, engine, front suspension etc were improved.

Sometimes I too think that Musclecars will fade away but you only have to see what has happenned with certain older cars through history. I am not into Vauxhauls for example but there are certain models from the 1920s and 1930s which bring phone number prices. Pre 1960 Holdens are steadily and slowly going up in value and most of them don't have a radio or a heater.

Just have a look at the prices some pre musclecar era cars are achieving. Most people who were kids when 48/215s hit the road are now gone or no longer interested enough to own and maintain one yet they are getting excellent prices.

At the same auction as the $65k Warwick Yellow we are talking about and EH 149 went for around $20k EHs are certainly holding up well when a poverty pack goes for that.

$65k for a resto car indicates that complete 327s are rare.and 70-80k spent indicates a $150k break even value for the car when completed.

I've got to be honest here and declare I have a vested interest in values of 327 HKs. On the same hand Right now values aren't most important to me because I really like my 327HK. One day if and or when I decide to sell it then that will be very important.

Just remember... When you don't own a car and or looking to buy you want to get it for a low price. When you want to sell you want to get a high price. No smoke and mirrors there.

The thing which has potential to affect our wonderful hobby is negativity.

The hobby ( or industry) needs to be healthy to survive and includes buyers, sellers, parts suppliers, repro parts manufacturers, panel beaters, dealers and auction houses. When you look at the big picture it is somewhat complex and its whole being relies on two things interest and enthusiasm.

I have both and look forward to continuing my hobby for many years to come.

I know where there is an 18X, Warrick Yellow, Type 1, delete stripe, Pagewood built 1837, local car that took me 2 years to persuade the original owner to sell and has taken 34 years since then for many to try and persuade me to sell it and some here to offer their suggestions that it's not the perfect colour combination and many will no doubt come. It's supposed value has ranged from the $2600 I paid for it then to the $150K or more a few years ago...BUT I THINK IT IS BEAUTIFUL ....and why shouldn't I ?. You can debate and discus, use all sorts of argument about how many built, colour combinations etc etc but what ever you like.... there really aint that many left where you can pick and choose your favourite colour combinations, engine size etc etc. They are not JUST any other CAR you know and for anyone who is fortunate enough to own a HK monaro any HK Monaro you are blessed and lets enjoy them !!!!!.......Jack

HK1837 would you mind expanding on the above comment - to further my education? When you say wasn't a recommended colour, did Dealer's have some sort of listing of ideal colour combinations or similar?

My car was Bright Blue Metallic with 14Z (Jacana Blue) interior. I have seen far more with Black interior so is mine in the same boat?

Ordering procedures have Recommnded, Not Recommended and Not Available trims for each exterior paint colour. 1173-18X is NR

what was the Not Available trim colours , for what exterior colours
hey squeak, what was the blue on blue like , sounds like it might look very nice or maybe not

Westoz I don't mind it actually. It is certainly not as common as black. Hard colour to photograph because it can look quite blue to very pale, almost grey depending on flash etc. It certainly shows up grime readily (but not as bad as parchment obviously).
