I have a couple of HK Broughams sitting here. One has all the original 307 running gear, a good K frame and front end but the rear quarters are shot and it's just not worth fixing. I have another shell in pretty decent nick with a HT K frame and crossmember bolted up to it and the body would tidy up well with some work.

I don't want to do a resto as I already have a couple of standard Broughams so this one is to be a more playful project. I've sourced a 400 SBC and am on the prowl for a TH400 and VB-VK diff.

My first question is do I use the HK K frame and crossmember or the HT? I'm not sure why the HT front was bolted onto the HK but I assume there's a reason.
This is my blank canvas to build something solid and enjoyable to drive. How would you guys go about the same project if you had it sitting in front of you?
Also would the stock 307/glide/LSD from the Brougham be a sought after setup?

Cheers ... Peter

Use the HT front end as long as it isn't a really early HT one (if the upper control arms are mounted lower than the HK then it is the later style). HT's steer better.

If the 307 is dressed with all original gear (kickdown, lines, harness, bolts, lead holders etc) then the driveline will be valuable to someone for a Monaro resto. Most will just want the 307 and glide as most will use a 10-bolt but the LSD banjo will be sought after too as will the pink tailshaft (as it also suits HT-HG with 253 and Saginaw).

Thankyou for that....

Are you suggesting I use the HT K frame or just bolt the HT crossmember under the HK K frame?

Just the crossmember. You could also use the front clip if you like as it gives you easier gearbox crossmember options.
