Are VQ or other tanks compatible with VR? Am thinking of fitting one for longer range as they hold more fuel. thanks

Wagon tanks are different to sedan, so you can't interchange them. All the wagons from VB-VS had effectively the same 68L tank, albeit with changes along the way as the models progressed - the addition of the internal swirl pot, fuel pump flange change, ULP filler neck, length of filler neck, and the location of return lines are some of the changes made during that period. If you're sourcing a replacement tank, you eally need to stick to your model to avoid issues.
If you wanted to find a really good VR tank, then Brown-Davis in Melbourne will split it & add a couple of inches to it (making it deeper). You will need to fabricate new retaining straps to suit the deeper tank. HDT offered this option in the 80s, increasing the volume from 68L to 105L. |
