hi guys just a question for any one who can answer this for me i have brought a vs wagon which has the seq injection and i have also brought a vr sedan which has the pre ecotec engine
my question is which one would b better to use and whats the diff between the two engines
as im thinking of putting the pre ecotec engine into my vs wagon but it has got me thinking do i have to change wiring loom as well or should it slip straight in
thank you and i hope some one can give me a little more info

It will slip in, but the wiring is different. as is the AC and power steering. You will need to change the power steering hoses.
Not sure if it just the engine bay wiring that is different though.

Body wiring is different - different locations in the bay for the engine harness plugs, but the pin-outs are mostly the same - you'll need to extend the VS plugs from behind the RH strut tower, down to the battery area. I did this for a 5L conversion for a mate - simply using a VR body harness end, and a VS V6 engine harness end - and made a patch loom to link the 2 together (pinouts are the same for V6 & V8).
It's not too difficult - better if you have a diagram for both, as there are slight changes in the pinout locations - mainly the connector under the dash near the computer.
VS 2-speed fan requires the VS BCM to run it on the 2nd speed, but this should be OK to still operate as normal, as the triggering method (from the engine computer) is the same for both VR/VS - the BCM decides when it wants lo/hi and the wiring is part of the body harness, not the engine harness. |
