Very nice, if I hadn't bought my HJ Prem i'd be very interested in that. Note how optioned the car is, but it still has bench and column shift. Power steering hoses have been shifted too, probably to HT 350 location.
These all should have HK 5" rims, no 6" wheels on Brougham.

The car is a perfect example of a well look after low milage car.

Shame the dealer fitted radio does not have the fader control like it should.

I think the HT rims come in the boot, the tyres on the car are not crossply. Brougham should have twin white band tyres, so the seperate tyres are not for the car.

Totally original? Well the master cylinder is not, but it does have the banjo union for the A/C.

Would love to see it in the flesh, cars like this do not come along often.

I wonder What it will eventually sell for?

Hi guys. Some observations, I owned an HK Brougham many moons ago. Didn't the radios get factory fitted as well? Where does the fader go? I thought all Broughams got frosted wheel trims. To me this has got HG Prem trims.

Auction now ended, seller ended early. Nice car though.

Colin.

Greetings, A lovely car despite a few fixable things on it. The radio could be either factory fitted or put in later at the dealer. In both cases, the fader control should have been included along with the special Brougham rear speaker installation with spacer. The spot the fader control is supposed to go is on the RH side of the dash fascia near the top of the metal panel. But there are known original cars with it in the spot where a choke control would go, so maybe this was a peculiarity thing depending on the plant that built the car. All Broughams got frosted wheel trims as you say. The ones on the car are from an HG Premier for sure. Interesting how the car has the standard vinyl roof and not the optional Parchment item that would have suited the light interior trim better.

Cars like this are very few and far between these days especially with such low miles. The tail pipe is not a correct Brougham item as it ends too far under the car and is the wrong angle. But that is an easy fix too.

I have always believed, but I may be wrong, that even though Broughams were the top of the line, they were not always fitted with a radio from factory, but were an option. Hence no fader control. Hard to believe I know but someone might know more about this then me?

I notice that both Warren & git have suggested that the radio should have the rear speaker & fader control as a mandatory fitting if a radio is fitted.

Was this a factory thing if a radio was optioned ? Surely at a dealer, a radio could be fitted either with or without the rear speaker at the owner's discretion.

Brougham was to get fader if radio fitted.

As far as I know dealers were suppose o fit it if fitting radio to Brougham. But would be easy to just fit radio.

As Git said, fader can go on dash or in auto choke blank on 186S and V8 cars. My experience has been mainly with Sydney cars which sem to have it in the blank. I have seen 186S and V8 cars with it in the dash though.

I would have to say that I have not seen enough cars to make any conclusive statements though.

Greetings, The rear seat belts have been added as an accessory at some time after it was built I would say as they are the Britax (flat) type. The front ones are the correct Cooldrive (raised) type for Adelaide build HK.

Greetings, When a radio was fitted to a Brougham before delivery, the fader and rear speaker were part of the install. It is detailed in the Selling Manual optional equipment section. In all other sedan and coupe models, the rear speaker was an additional option at an additional cost. The fader is a part of the rear speaker package. It was likely that many dealer installs in a Brougham were done with no rear speaker fitted as a big part of the car needed to be pulled apart to put it all in, even when the rear speaker was no cost as it was included. This car may have been a demo or something with no radio and one was put in to sell it? All the original cars I know of with a radio all have the rear speaker and fader in them suggesting that is how it was. I also know of several owners with no rear speaker and fader who claim the radio was factory fitted in their Brougham but there are always tell-tale signs that this was not so. If the car for sale has all the books then the receiver serial number should match the handbook. Despite what many would like to believe, a radio was a rare option in the cars from the factory. Most were dealer fit jobs.

My HT Brougham has no radio, and looks like it never has had one fitted.
It has 5" wheels, but with the spare mounted on an angle with the correct hardware for a 6" spare!

The brackets on the rails aren't just for 6" spare, they are also for sedans with certain tyres on 5" rims, which Brougham had as standard. I think it was 7.35x14 tyres.

Greetings, That is all correct. The radio was an option. The wheels are standard size but with a 7.35 tyre and they have to lay over as there is a smooth lower fender line on the right side to match the left of the car. Not enough vertical space to have the spare mounted like in a traditional sedans and coupes.

I wrecked a very rusty HK Brougham quite a few years ago and it had a push button Air Chief and rear speaker but no fader was fitted.
