True Dr Terry we have an ignition relay keeping power on while starting.

Yes, but what holds the relay on, if your not using the IGN1 terminal to do that.

Dr Terry i use the IGN bypass yellow terminal feeding directly to the FP relay coil. Also feeding the coil is the N/O oil pressure switch when engine started. When starting the bypass terminal also feeds the IGN1 pink terminal by a diode. IGN1 powers a relay for the ignition requirements. Hope i got it covered.

Yeah, got it now. You had me confused when you called the IGN2 terminal 'redundant', but you are using it to run a diode back to IGN1.

All good.

wrong wording does that! But I must admit i was surprised when IGN1 was not active when in start position relying on the do-not-cut resistor wire.
caution needed when adding other accessories to IGN1 as any other loads will pull lower the voltage at the coil when cranking, I guess.. An old spare harness that was stripped for wire had a very hot resistor wire. I remember when someone wanted a hidden cut-out switch i would say run a discreet black wire down to the coil neg and back under the dash somewhere to a push pull switch. Then if the baddies tried to jump wire the coil positive or force the ign switch it still would not start.

Yes, that's why the ignition 'reds' on the dash dim so much when you go to the start position. On these older models GMH wired most accessories to the ACC terminal to avoid this issue. However if you do run extra ignition feeds like anything heavy then a relay is the only way to go.
