Hi,

I drive an automatic, Holden Viva Station Wagon 2008 Model. For over a year now I have been having the problems of:
1. Loosing power while driving,
2. Stalling at lights etc.
3. Loss of acceleration on quick take offs like round abouts etc.

The problem is that this doesn't happen everyday, maybe once to 3 times per month, and always at the worst time (last week on the freeway, for example). It has become a safety issue and everytime I take it back to the Holden dealer, they say they can't find any fault, mostly because no engine code comes up on the tech machines, but they also tell me that they have never seen anything like it before. Even head office has no explanation.

The attached picture shows what comes up on my screen when loss of power occurs - D, P, N and R appear simultaneously.

I hope some one out there has experience a similar situation as I don't think I can be the only person Australia wide who has had this happen to them.

Melly

P.S. when I pull off the road and turn the car back on again, the icons disappear and I can drive as per normal until it happens again. Please help if you can.

The inhibitor switch in Vivas can be an issue, the fact that the P, R , N, D lights come on adds to that being the problem.

I don't rely too much on fault codes when diagnosing these problems. They can assist but codes are not everything.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Hi,

My inhibitor switch has already been replaced, twice.
NRMA suggested it was the "solenoid" (I'm not entirely sure what that is) but Holden said that wouldn't be the problem.
