Hey guys. I own a BT1 VS 5L sedan. it has a small cam and stall. not sure what size but it is driver friendly. it runs on dual fuel.Gas ring on the throttle body. im very happy the way it runs on gas. Performance wise, how ever we have too many cars. looking to sell the VS. rebuild the 308 in my HZ statesman using VN heads carbie and the HZ is on gas but the motor is tired. it needs a bit of a fix up. I was told by the local mechanic that my HZ with VN heads, cam and stall wont go as well as the VS as the VS is injected. but they are both running on gas. via carbie or throttle body. I would like to ask your thoughts on is. Jamie

Runnning the 5.0 on LPG in a HZ might lose some performance but only due to the fact that the ignition timing in the Commodore is "computer" controlled whereas the HZ type distributor could try hard but never get the ignition timing as close to correct as the ECU can.
Having said that this is the only way that I can see that your mechanic is right and the difference would probably be barely noticeable.
You could regain that performance & then some by replacing the throttle body and mixer ring with a GRA mixer in the HZ. |

Not forgetting a loss in compression with the injected heads as well.
