WB Van upper tailgate handle appears to be broken?

Hi I have noticed that my upper handle on my WB van can twist completely 360 deg when trying to open the tailgate??? At first it was the link mechanism inside that unlatch the locking rods was busted like they do, but Rare spares redo these now P/N CP1071 but when I fitted the mechanism today the tailgate would still not unlatch because the actual handle keeps twisting around. If I hold the square drive end in a vice and twist the locking end of the handle it appears to be in two pieces and must be broken. How do I fix it, do I need to stake it, or what or does somebody have a good handle?? Cheers MS

Rare Spares are having these made as a new item complete with the ferrule. the first sample is due from the factory in the next two weeks.The way they were made originally makes it difficult to repair.There is a square keyway that holds the inner shaft in place.

I was wondering what was stopping me from putting a tack of weld on the outside to join the two halves?? Somebody must be making them as this guy has multiple items listed. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RECH...9900818%26#ht_1831wt_331

All sorted, small grub screw to clamp the outer to the inner ......back in action for the cost of the tap and the grub screw
