I have known a guy for a while, he has a HJ LS 202 Monaro which he has had since the late seventies , it has not been out of rego and is a honest car. He has done repairs him self regarding paint( which is the wrong shade of blue)-and has taken the vinyl roof off.The original engine was exchanged seven years ago. My question is what would it be worth, he put a amount of 12k around when the boom was on and he is not in a hurry to sell, but he is in his early eighties. There is always that thing of its only a six and if its a monaro it has to be a v8. I know it's the lowest production holden made in the six ( 81 made). Cheers

Probably one of the least desirable Monaros in original form, but if it is a good shell with good doors and stainless then it is worth good money as it is perfect for a car to customise.

I think if it has made it this far without modification , it needs to stay that way, deauville blue with cream vinyl roof, a nice colour combo, but you won't be pulling big money.

Also one of the rarest production cars in terms of numbers built.

I am pretty sure they made less than 100, but I would have to confirm that.

HK1837 do you know?

Have a mate with one and he claims it to be such a rare car, but it has now been "GTS'd" and runs a 400 chev, powerglide and 9 inch, so as fair as I am concerned what it left the factory as is of little significance now.

But I get off topic. Either way, rare car in original form.

81 is correct for 6cyl LS. 337 total. Perfect car to modify with bigger engine. This sort of car will never lose value with mechanical upgrades. Just like a 6cyl Sandman or 6cyl SL/R.
