Nicely optioned and rare with the 308 but surely this could not be original with the trimatic being a 1969 model? http://www.ebay.com.au/i...sh=item2a2eaa7b59&_uhb=1 |

April/May 1970 for Trimatic according to Ben's book.
Not sure exactly what the owner is trying to achieve talking about Monaro options. Monaro was the same luxury level as Kingswood so they are basically the same options. Monaro had the same dash and rims as a Kingswood. |

I agree HK1837, would be better of saying its a nicely optioned kingswood. Also it couldn't be "all matching numbers" if it doesn't have its original powerglide auto? |

Maybe it is some sort of pilot fitment trimatic? You'd know by the speedo cable hole in the firewall in any case. |

Yeah, they always talk about Monaro this & Monaro that, when in fact they really mean GTS. Dr Terry |

What proof does he have that it came from the factory like that?
anyone can restore a car with GTS Monaro bits on it and claim it to be factory.
Seems like a very expensive car for the money. Asking GTS Monaro prices for a tarted up Kingy.

Greetings, Of concern is the vinyl roof. Not available on a Kingswood in HT or HG from factory. I'm also of the opinion that no 308 in HT got the Trimatic as that is what the features book says. Lesser engines got it from 4/70 but not the 308. HG Brougham was first for 308 Trimatic. The seller also claims the wheels are special but they are 5". Go figure. Maybe he doesn't know about "seller beware" laws now in place? |
look out, the guru is coming through... |

A correction for the "Guru in training", HT HG Kingswoods could be ordered from factory with a vinyl roof. I've seen plenty of them and the Custom Features Brochures list it as an option. |

I thought both 253 and 308 got trimatic late in HT except for Brougham which stayed with Powerglide until HG. |

Hi ive seen this one too and have been following it as I've got a similar car, a factory Spanish red 4 speed 308 built 4/70 kingswood. Its in storage at the moment up the coast with my parents it is needing minor cosmetic tidying up and the front seat resprung. Hopefully ill have it back on the road within the next 2 years as I have other financial priorities at the moment and a growing family that takes priority. Ive had this one for over 20yrs and purchased it off the original elderly owner in Northern NSW. My car was a daily driver for many years and a well known car on the central coast until I took it off the road in 2006. I haven't seen another 308 kingswood before but I have seen the odd 253. For what its worth I don't think that car is worth close to the asking price. It is only a kingswood after all. Most would opt for a premier or brougham at that price (I would). But if the seller isn't in a hurry and someone is really keen, well who knows

I would've thought why not the brougham as well as their is nothing to it at all. The 308 tri maybe could be not so only because as she is not the same as the 253 with more in the stronger clutch pack, but i think only because of this. and not to many 308 autos ratio to 253 maybe all the HT 308 were 2sp auto's ? if the bro did not get the tri why not the rest.

It's more than likely, given the small sales volume of the Brougham, that they were made in small batches every month or 2. If that was the case, perhaps the last batch of HT Broughams was built before the Tri-Matic came online.
This is only conjecture, as I have never seen a Tri-Matic HT Brougham. However, HT Tri-Matics are not commonplace & HT Broughams less so, which would make an HT Tri-Matic Brougham very rare in any case.

It is well documented that the HT Brougham only ever had a Powerglide, but both 253 and 308 in other later HT did. Whether or not this is true or not is another matter! But it is in GMH literature. |

Has anyone ever seen a factory trimatic HT 253? I have only seen a 6 cylinder trimatic in the HT. |
