A Brougham with a short arse rear and HT high back seats 308 trimatic T bar N10 exhaust. 3.08 10 bolt LSD. or even a 4 sp manual one.

Sounds very cool. All of that in a Brougham would have been actually do-able if you were in a position of power within GMH at the time. You and I could never have ordered it as we couldn't order a 10-bolt or 4spd in a Brougham, but internally they could have done it easily using all production bits. It'd be a different story if you were talking a Premier (as in short arse rear Brougham), then a 308 4spd 10-bolt was orderable. If you went to a special dealer like Bob Jane you'd probably have been able to get the Brougham interior too.
I have a feeling though that such a car would have got a 350 and Powerglide or 4spd though if someone internal was doing something special!

Isn't a Brougham with a short arse rear called a Premier, or do you mean short rear but with Brougham tail-lights ?

I've heard something like that too Warren. Also a HK Premier with 327 (option L34). What is the option code for 350 in HT-HG? Did it stay as L34?

You will probably find they doid not use an option code, as there was no code. If they did issue one for this car it would have been the same as the one used in the HQ L30.

The 307 was NLA at this time, Just like L34 being used on Torana as the 327 was NLA at that time.

307 was around for a significant amount of HT though.

Would be interested to see what a HK Prem sedan would look like with Bro tail lights and boot lid etc, any Photoshop guru's willing to have a crack at it?

There was a HK Monaro on ebay several times a couple of years ago with Bro tail lights, that car also had the small rear window as well, wasn't a well done job.

It got me thinking that a Brougham coupe might have been a good looker.

The Brougham lights looked terrible on the HK 307 GTS that i'd seen. It was a beautiful combination (Burgundy Maroon with 18Y trim) and the lights ruined the clean HK back end. The guy that bought it was gong to change it back to how it was originally.

Blue 307 auto it was and got written off in about 1985. he left the pub one night in a big hurry and hit an off duty copper up the arse as he was flat out on the highway due to miss judging a on coming car and rear ending a mini at about 90 to 100 mph.

Wouldn't the Brougham tail-light look better on the rear end of a regular HT/G ? At least the boot panel would line up properly. With an HK you would end up with a large gap where the boot lid is 'scalloped' out.

I think that this one was in Street Machine Magazine a couple of years back.

The owner has lengthened the rear to the same scale as a Brougham and not merely added the tail lights.

It does not look like it to me, the boot is the same, not longer, is it not. as premier and brougham boot is the same and by the boot i mean the door bit so to speak you lift up and down.

I think all they did was cut the whole piece out for the tail lights and all as a section from a written off brougham, not just bog in the brougham tail lights.

I'm with castellan, it's just had the taller tail-lights fitted in place of the stock ones. The boot lid still goes most of the way to the rear screen.

On a Brougham, there is a much wider filler panel between the rear screen & boot lid, not present on this Monaro.
