Check this out guys...

It just seems suss. Why go to all that trouble to make it look like a stock HJ? I smell a rebirth.
Is there any way to tell on the body that it is a HQ or HJ for that matter?

Yes, if it is a Pagewood body, by the tracking number on the firewall. PLus HJ coupe bodies are slightly different in a few areas apart from the dash.

maybe when the car was a few years old the owner wanted to update the look ,not that hard if you can weld. Years ago these could be had for $500-1500.My 1st HQ LS coupe was $500. 6cyl 4 spd and was a daily driver.

At one stage in 90's I had a 253 auto LS and a 308 4spd GTS in my shed to wreck, they were worth more in bits than as a car. Same with HQ SS's, Sandmans etc.

Any Statesmans! You could buy whole registered cars like HJ Devilles for well under $2000, hand the rego in, get $350 for the steer, $750 for the 308, $350 for the TH400 and then profit from the front doors and front panels to blokes for tonners. Sometimes you'd luck a 3.08 LSD too.
