Is this a geniune Hr coupe prototype. My brother looked at what might of been a similar car in South Africa in the 1980's. He reckons it was to well done to be a custom job.. Anyone else know any details about this or if its a Opel reckford photoshopped? Both cars in these pics share same number plate but door handles are in different positions..

Reading further down that thread, someone posted a pic of a 1964 Rekord coupe which looks to already have the HR rear, and a straight swage-line down the side, so that's probably what it's based on.
Cheers,

Mick

Any chances of pictures for people who won't use Facebook?

I'd also like to know why the both ended up in South Africa.

Could be an illusion, but the back axle in the "wreckers" pic looks to have 4 wheel studs, not 5.

I'm guessing Opel Record with HR rear end. Any HD/R experts out there care to comment on the shape of the inner front guards?

Wondering how the pictured ones compare to the HD/R ones.
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right.

I think you're onto something with the 4 stud wheels.

Here's a Rekord C coupe:

We know GM South Africa took cars and slightly modified them, such as the HG range. So who is to say they did not do the same with this.

Just depends on the dimensions of the two cars.
