Picture this guys - restored Warwick Yellow, Goya Red interior, Kingswood ute, with all the stripes, wheel arch trims and GTS caps, 186, 3 on the tree 3.36 rear. Finally off to Bathurst after procrastinating for 37 years, fully loaded, 2300kms round trip, sitting on 65mph all the way ,the regulator gave up over the Hay plain, but in West Wyalong home of the late great Bruce Mcphee, we were able to waltz into a little electrical shop and buy the correct Bosch replacement- Bruce was watching over us- followed by compulsory picture of the ute in front of the old West Wyalong Holden dealer ship. Cruising into Bathurst to camp on top of the mountain- where else?- and then spending a fantastic 3 nights and 4 days at the event. The top is well managed and still a fun place for any age . Too bad Ford won , but Winterbottom deserved it - well done. Packed up and the ute took us back home without a miss, getting just under 12litres/100 . The ute attracted plenty of attention and it had a great time, as did we. Maybe we'll do it next year . Who else had a great time at Bathurst in 2013?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Didn't see your ute at McPhillimy- and I wish I had. Did you see the 71 ish Plymouth 'cuda parked there?

Was my 20th trip & would love to take the Buick there one year, but you've got a bit more storage space then me!

Bit p'd off that FPR finally got everything together. Still, in my 20 years there, I've only had to endure 5 frod wins.

Overall, an other great 10 days for me & the other 24 DILLIGAF crew members.

Yes we saw the 383 Cuda cruising around , we were in the Reid Sulman camp ground, it was about a 400 metre walk to the shower- toilet block , so it was a jump in the car and drive there job if you got caught short - all good fun . Pick your times to have a shower , but not morning or evening unless you wanted a 30 minute wait. In Reid Sulman we spotted a blue EH ute , yellow HQ GTS sedan, double decker bus, numerous motorized esky's, a small train, etc. etc, and every variation on camping ideas you can imagine, not sure if I'd want to be camping up the top in bad weather, we had a taste late on sunday , it blew up and blew a whole heap of tents up and away in our area which overlooked the whole of Bathurst and the track, it might be the price you pay for having a fantastic view.

Also glad to hear you had a fantastic time and that HK sounds like a sweet ride, but I must correct you though on one point (and not trying to be disrespectful either). Bruce Mcphee is from Wyong not Wyalong or West Wyalong. Wyong is on the central Coast about 20mins from Gosford.
Is that ute of yours the ute that was for sale recently around the traps? It is a good looking thing. I wish I had it in my garage!
regards,
Alby

You are absolutely correct , oh well I lived a dream for a moment , and no the ute isn't the one you have seen for sale, I live in the Barrossa in S.A. The next trip will have to be through Wyong just to tick it off the list . Cheers Mike
