Guys, here some fresh pictures of my Monaro. Honestly, I realized that I cant afford enought money for good restoration here in Serbia, and I m thinking about selling this car. I m just not sure about price, so can you help me with some suggest? Of course, tell me if you know something more about this engine. Thank you! Mate in Serbia probably not worth much. In Australia you would still get thousands for that car. |

Where it is in the condition it is. It could not be worth much at all. Maybe 500 Euro to the right person who is interested. Try 5000 Euro as a price and see. Keep dropping the price until sold. Interest in Europe would be low, but you just need someone who is very interested to make it sell. |

Hi Lazar.
It is amazing where a car can end up. I would love to read your story of how you got it and its life and where it has been on its way to Serbia.
Regarding its value. Here in Australia it would only be worth the value of its body shell. It is the most basic model so most of the parts except for the two door body shell are shared with the Holden Kingswood sedan. It appears to be a three speed manual gearbox and most likely has four wheel drum brakes. The only really valuable component is the two door body shell.
Lazar please note that this car was offered in Australia with a General Motors Chevrolet small block V8 engine, two speed powerglide automatic transmission or Saginaw four speed synchromesh manual gearbox and the Chevrolet "ten bolt" rear axle/ differential....There would be more chance of finding these parts for a good price in Western Europe than finding any dedicated General Motors Holdens parts at all. Honestly, its highest value is in Australia but sadly the cost of getting it back to is homeland would be more than it is worth.
Old cars are easier to rebuild at home and it would be really great to see it brought back to life. You say you cannot really afford to restore it. Perhaps you are looking at a top quality restoration. You might be able to rebuild the car over a longer period to reduce the impact of getting it back on the road.
One thing I can ABSOLUTELY guarantee is that if you got that Monaro back running it would reward your hard work ten times over with the enjoyment of owning and driving it. It would be probably the most unique car in all of Serbia.
On a humorous note, Greeks (and Italians) in Australia absolutely love Monaros! One of my good friends Nick G is a Greek and he has one of the best Monaros in existence! There are many Greek Australians who have gone back to Greece (and Italy) also so you might just find a Greek (or Italian) so you might just find someone in Greece or Italy who know what this car is.
If you decide to keep it and get it into useable condition I ( and I am sure many of the people on Fastlane) would be happy to help with information.

Hi Lazar
I lived in Sofia Bulgaria for 6 years returning to Australia last year always wondered if there was any Hk holden's in my travels in Eastern Europe and am surprised to see your HK Monaro in Serbia!
If I was still there I would have been interested in this car to purchase. I suggest you may want to advertise on some regional expatriate websites ie Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Romania or Greece as there may be a Australian car enthusiasts who might like to have a Monaro in their garage.

There is a Holden club in Britain which would be the nearest one to where you are. If you contact the Holden U.K register you may find an Australian living in Britain who may be interested in the car. An enthusiast could quite easily take a car trailer and drive to Serbia to pick it up. Worth a try....
