After 2 years with no radio finally got around to fitting it now find that when turned on also the headlights come on, the ignition goes on, obviously a crossed wire somewhere.

When I converted the VN to VS ecotec found the instrument lights only came on when the radio was on. Never worried about finding the problem, maybe because the radio was VN it happened. (sounds silly but have seen all type of silly electrical faults.)

doesn't really matter I am going to wire the radio so I can run it without the key being on fed up with having to use the key all the time.
there are 12 wires going to the connector and seeing as only about 7 are actually used for the radio I think I can do without the surplus wires.
