Has anyone fitted a Rare Spares boot floor? they look terrible in the photos on the net so I decided to make my own as the right hand side was good I only had to make half at least. My Monaro floor is worse so not doing that again. I have never had a good run with rust sections so normally spend the time to make my own, see attached sills from Craig Vayne, 10mm out, they were shocking I could not use them so I made my own. In his defence he sent me another set free, but they were the same. The folds weren't even in the right place. Do people just accept them and slap em on and bash em down?

I doubt that you find any criticism here as Rares are a site sponsor, Google is your friend, you will find a lot of people not happy with Rares parts, myself included. My experience is with a HZ twin headlight front that I ended up scrapping due to poor fitment and recently bought a handbrake cover which is crap so I will scrap it too. Some people say that close enough is good enough but I don't subscribe to this theory, if you want to make it, make it properly, there is no place for ill fitting or poorly made crap.

There is a dedicated section for Rare Spares discussions:
http://www.fastlane.com....ms/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=21

If you take a read through there, you'll find things have changed, and guys like Dave Ryan actually have been listening & responding to constructive criticism.
Cheers,

Mick

thanks Mick, I have looked at that section before and while I do agree that things seem to be changing for the better, I thought I would respond to the original post as nobody else has in over a month. It would seem that Rares floorpans are not everyones first choice and, as above, the photos on the net look quite ordinary and there are now others doing floorpans and rust repair sections, hence the original post. I would love to use Rares more than I have in the past but I think they are still evolving and up to now I have been disappointed with their quality, others may see it differently.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your posts.
Believe it or not we actually welcome any constructive criticism any-one might care to post and we are more than prepared to act on it if it is justified.
I think we have shown our willingness to do so.

Yarrum, could you please tell me what model floor you are talking about so I can follow up your comments?

States man, Could you please tell me which of our Distributors you purchased the front panel from as we don't actually have that part in our Rare Spares range? I'm guessing, and it is only a guess that perhaps it may be a product from another supplier that one of our Distributors had bought in.
Also could you please let me know the part number of the hand brake cover you bought and from which Distributor?
If you can supply these details for me I'm more than happy to chase them up.
If it is more convenient feel free to give me a call on 03 9305 4000.
Cheers
Dave Ryan

Dave
thanks for your interest
my HZ front came from Rares in Sydney, it would have been 3+ years ago now, was around $330 from memory, it did not have the "square" top edge like the original ones. The handbrake cover came from ebay seller Kingswood country, I think it was in April last year, I never fitted it because I found it quite flimsy and a pretty poor copy, it's the earlier type which is straight on the top edge.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back to you but I have been dealing with some issues for my elderly parents.
Even though it was some time ago I'm happy to see what I can do regarding the front panel and I can certainly do something about the hand brake cover.
If you would care to give me a call I would be happy to talk with you.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
Its a hq to hz boot floor pan im interested in. Im happy to pay the $300 odd dollars but would like o know how well they fit first. I do expect some pushing and trimming to fit ive been around long enough to understand that. My main concern is the end result, will it look good when all fitted.
