Hi Forum
I was hoping someone could help me with some details on my HK Premier.
It has a 307, powerglide and factory LSD. It is missing the carby and manifold.
What is the standard carby and manifold for the HK premiers? What is the diff ratio of the factory LSD?
Regards
Mark H.

2 barrel Rochester on matching cast steel manifold.
Ratio STD would be 2.78:1 but I don't think it is necessarily LSD as standard. AFAIK this was only for early HK up to Monaro/Brougham release. After MOnaro/Brougham release there was also optional 3.08:1 banjo and 3.36:1 Salisbury. Possibly 3.08:1 Salisbury too (this is a bit of a grey area ie what you got if you optioned a 3.08:1 rear axle). |

Hi HK1837
Thanks for the information. I thought it might be a Rochester but was not sure and don't have a HK V8 manual.
With regard to the diff, the reason I asked was that there is a yellow warning sticker in the boot stating it has an LSD and stating how it should be kacked up and what oil to use to top it up.
I would appreciate if you or someone else on the forum could help me decipher the various numbers on it.
The main identification plate has the following information" Body: 80569KR-03847-H5 Trim: 1163-10U Paint: 587-10064
On the firewall is HK22146 S and another S below the last S. On the VIN plate is: 80569KH526532 and finally the engine number is 30712478 K10 10 - the 0 in the brackets looks like a small raised 0 like the degree sign and I am not sure if it is an incompletely stamped nine or 8.
Is there a way to tell if this is the orignal engine?
Thanks
Mark H

It is an LSD, and it was built just prior to bulk Monaro production so having an LSD is correct.
I'd be pretty confident that is the original engine for that car (i'd bet money it is). If you want more certainty contact Ben Stewart at Holden Historical Services.
It is the 3847th HK Premier body produced at the Pagewood (Sydney) body plant. 1163 is Inca Gold metallic. 10U is black trim but I don't have the details handy for what the U means (could be a cloth insert or just plain vinyl).
Which 0 looks odd? The first one after the K has to be a 0, but the second one could be an 8 or 9. As you show it is is the 10th October 1967 engine assembly, but it could be 18th or 19th too. I do have a K1010 recorded with the Aussie bit slightly earlier. See if you can see teh cast date on the side of the engine, will look like 7K16, pretty big characters. |

Hi HK1837
Thanks again for all of the information. sorry about my rambling about the number in brackets, Iwas refering to the last digit of the engine number and I assume it must be K1010 but it seemed odd that the last 0 is smaller. I was not able to locate the engine cast date - where is it located.
On a tangent, I have a 253 that came out of a HQ premier and it has no engine number stmped on the flat machined area where they are normally found - is this normal or is it likely is has been removed? Case stamp on it is 0221?
Regards

Probably K1019 or K1018 if it is a small o.
Engine has probably been decked, it will be D221 which is 22/4/71, so either a late HG or early HQ engine. |
