Interesting to know if the No 3 Pagewood car has an A in the engine number, as 4 does not but 7 does. This tells me that engine 4 was stamped before engine 3, which would not be unussual as they are stamped before they go into a car.

Do the deails of the Elizabeth No3 car come up as early pilot or regular production?

It was just a shell Warren, and not the original one. Had the right chassis number and ID plates but nothing else. I imagine it'll have been a car built for similar purposes to Ben's.

...the earliest of these cars have a right to have been re-shelled as they were more than likely to have been raced and ''track tested'' which is not a bad thing...especially if a bloke with plenty of coin bought one of these high performance models and attempted something similar...

...the manufacturers would have been very happy with the introduction and hype of motor racing in these early days, as up until then they usually had to rely on the taxi market,....always very early users of a new model...to supply any feed back regarding reliability or durability....

I do appreciate the discussion this has generated. I have managed to find at least 1 photo of the car, unfortunately its black and white. You should be able to see that it is indeed an HK at the very least. I have also managed to track down the son of the dealer (Webster Motors Midland) but he is yet to reply to my email. The car was purchased in mid 1969, his DOB 01 / 07 /1948 and was an early present. The dealer already had the car but his wife didn't like it so sold it to my old man.
Who knows, maybe it was 307 Auto that had a 327 put in or more likely a 327 with a Powerglide put in, but at the very least it was done by the dealer. What I can tell you is that until the day he died he was adimant it was Verdoro Green.

Although I cant find any info on this particular car, there are several reports of Special Order cars that were painted black and other odd colours, so I have little doubt that it would have existed. He didnt die a senile old man either and was only 50 at the time so I have no reason to think he was full of it.

The second gold stripe was put on when my dads wife wanted it, she was thankfully an ex wife and not my mother.

He only had the car for about 12 - 18 months until he got the HG. He did make several comments that it would drain the 25 gallon fuel tank real quick. He also went on about what a stupid idea the tacho was in front of the selector.

What I was curious about was in the first paragraph of my post, someone posted on here that they saw a green 327 Auto HK being used as a chicken coupe but the owner refused to sell.

I have contacted Holded and put through to their historical section who was advised they do not have any records this far back, I have spoken to the local Monaro club and one person can remember seeing the vehicle but not much else which makes me think it ended up over east.

Who knows, maybe it was a Woodsman Green 327 with a powerglide put in later. Can only imagine what the car would be worth now regardless.

Thanks for all your input and if I find anything out I will let you know, in the mean time i will try and upload the photo.

You can't upload here, only host it somewhere else and put up a link.

I think I know where your car is (or was)
Around 2009 I visited a guy in Victoria when looking for good used Monaro panels. This bloke had old HK 327 and HT 350 Monaros laying all over the place and some were indeed in an old chicken shed.
All the cars were total basket cases and all were stripped of interiors and running gear which were stored in sheds and which I saw for myself.
The curious thing being when he was showing me around all these wrecks he pointed to one and said thats the only Verado Green HK 327 ever built.
The body condition was so poor you could not tell what colour it ever was and at the time it was not important to me.

However having just read this topic its an interesting thing.

I never went back to this guys place as he is a no. 1 hoarder and hard to deal with but with a bit of effort I could dig his info up and give it to you.

Let me know.
