Is there any oil other than gen ford for the 6 speed auto?

Being as BMW & Mercedes Benz us essentially the same ZF box then I would say that there should be a viable alternative.

Have you tried contacting Castrol or similar or even Repco etc.

Hi, thanks for the hints, tried castrol, no results yet, Will try repco & bursons, Ive also been told to leave it alone too, But iam a service addict, It pays off, Ive never had a mechanical failure ever, Iam 68 so i guess theres still time for a one, iam easy on my toys though.

OK I have done a bit of a search.

On the Ford Forums there is evidence that you can use a Penrite oil however it is different to the genuine oil so you have to completely flush your transmission of every drop of old oil and even after that it is not worth the risk for such an expensive transmission.

On the other hand you can buy the genuine ZF oil in a ZF container rather than a Ford container but it is still priced as if it contains gold or platinum flakes.

Also if you have a plastic transmission pan with the in built filter you can replace it with a metal pan and replaceable filter to save money over time.

Thanks for the research Jim, Ive got the filter, Just waiting on the oil, $ 300 delivered for 6 litres, Preventive maintance will be done.
