Nick
Top one in the closeups is an original, bottom one is a repro. In the original the Lion is far clearer, you can see the line in the mane runs right down to the shoulder and the foot is far clearer. It is actually easier to see the difference on the back, Lion's features stand out on the back of the original but blur on the repro.
Also on the back the original has the numbers along the edge, very small. Repro hasn't.
I have a NOS one in an original yellow/black Nasco box, and a repro side by side in front of me. Repro is very good an you will only pick it as non original when it is next to an original. |

The old one in these pics is real and has no part number on anywhere. Could it be possible there were repros back ion the 1970s???. |

Hi Byron. Definitely no part number on the old one. I have the bit broken off and there is no number there either. Could it be an old repro???

Holding the badge upright looking at the back. Bottom left hand edge, running vertically outside the moulded in "gully", starts with HOLDEN then a gap then the part number and a couple mor enumbers. Text is about 1mm high. May not see it too well on a used one. |
