After checking the oil level of our 4.1 alloy head motor and attempting to insert the dipstick back into the dipstick tube it would not go in fully - it seems that something is preventing it from going back ?? never experienced this problem previously - can someone advise how this issue can be rectified so that the dipstick can be pushed back to its normal position ? Thanking you your reply

Pull the dipstick back out, rotate 90 degrees and try re inserting it. Repeat until it goes in.

That's what I used to do with mine from memory.

Check that the dipstick tube has not come out of it's hole in the block if rotation fails to work.
