Has anyone ever done the above conversion? Looking at putting a full dash into the VY. Cluster, centre gauges, radio. The works.

BUT is it plug n play? Or is it going to need some major wiring?

Anyone done it, or have a link to anyone that has??

Thanks

I think from memory there is a low and high series wiring harness, if your vy has the low series harness i.e it,s only commodore then im sure u will need to fit the harness to suit, not sure how you would go if the stato has dual zone air to single zone, all so cluster would need to be reconfigured to suit the car programmed, ss dash might be easier, commordore nut should be able to fill u in.

Thanks Petaus,

The Calais has the dual zone climate, so I was kinda hoping that it would all just connect up. Unsure about the gauges above those vents in the centre panel though. It is an LCD display.

So I want the whole thing to look like this. Will change cluster and all. Is it doable??

You wil probably find that when you remove the Calais dash the under dash wiring comes with it. I know the VN had it as part of the body wiring, but VS plugged in.

I cannot see Holden returning to the VN style.

If the same. Then should be the same as when I put a VS Statesman dash in the VS hybrid that I built. Statesman harness plugged into standard body harness. As you are running Calais then all the functions will work. I had to conver the air and trip computer.

The WK/WL (VY/VZ equiv) dash only displays the radio & climate settings in that top LCD screen - the radio face becomes a sea of buttons without a display.
The wiring is part of the WK/WL dash harness, and from looking at the inlaws WK Caprice, the rest of the body wiring appears to be the same as any other high-spec harness.

If you're starting with a Calais, and you have the entire dash & associated wiring from a WK/WL, it won't be much more than plug & play.
Cheers,

Mick

Also Durwin, not position of hazard switch, so console wiring also, it should be part of the dash wiring.

I can see an upgrade for the beast.

Yeahs seriously thinking about it.

I would probably buy a written off Statesman and have that sitting next to my car and just swap bits over as needed.

I just can see it being a HUGE job. Dunno if I would be able to pull it off.

Considering the other stuff you have done, this would be a walk in the park.
