Hi all Going to be a bit rude for a first poster and cut to the chase as time is crucial.
I know it's a it of a "how long is a piece of string" kinda question but I need to ask.
I'm going to go talk to an old bloke about his monaro this weekend with $$$ in my pocket. It's a hk 307 with 2 speed and 10 bolt. Condition is fair to good. It's till registered but rarely driven he's real old now) bit of rust but not major. He's owned it a long time with papers and the driveline is original. Colour is a light blue but repainted many moons ago poorly. Issue I have is here is lots of talk about GTS etc but not a non GTS hk 307
I'm at $15,000 he's not much higher.
Cheers guys
PS I'm hanging around here after this just real bust atm

Cheers mate. I think it's good value provided it's got its original driveline and any rust is minor. Just having trouble valuing it. All the talks about GTSs. Personally I'd prefer a non GTS v8 over a GTS 6 but that's just me. Gotta be realistic. Pay much more and spend too much and it's cost me more than its worth. Even at $15,000 and a bare bones freshen up with paint at another $15,00 cost is getting up there.

If the body is good a HK coupe shell alone will pull %15-$20k so worth it everyday. |

Byron is correct. If you can buy a 307 GTS for $15k then it is a steal. Top end cars changed hands for $60-$80k with some even hitting close to $100k
Just like everything old back in 2006-2007 they went up in value. However HKTG Monaros have been considered somewhat undervalued.
A Pinnaroo beige base model Monaro which has won multiple Monaro Nationals was advertised for over $80k and sold.
Others are now starting to sell for higher prices and the market is finally starting to come back albeit slowly.
Hope this info helps.
Cheers Nick. |

Cheers guys . Thing is it's not a GTS. It just a Original numbers matching HK 307 2 speed with 10 bolt diff. Do we still think it's good value?

Definitely, my comment was based upon it being a Monaro. GMH built lots of Monaros prior to the first volume GTS's for stock prior to release. It appears they missed the market and expected the Monaro to be popular but the GTS was the big seller. After that big glut of Monaros they appear to have been thin on the ground for a fair while until they sold off the remaining stock and then started building more. As an example Pagewood Monaro number 249 is almost 470 Pagewood chassis numbers prior to Pagewood GTS327 number 2 and over 500 chassis numbers prior to Pagewood GTS number 20. The other plants will be similar. #249 was a 307 auto as well, and had air and steer and every other accessory you could think of but was an LSD banjo. What you have being a Salisbury in a HK V8 auto Monaro is reasonably uncommon - they are normally banjos either 2.78 or 3.08. Is it a 3.36? Very early HK or a later build? Which assembly plant? |

Not sure on specifics tag wise. We checked this car out 2 years ago but we weren't ready to jump either was he. He's a bit hard to work with. Bit of dementia creeping in I think. My mate knows what to look for and the physical signs point to genuine. Just need to confirm story lines up with evidence and we should be golden.
Cheers

They aren't easy to pick between 6 and 8cyl as an original car, but if it has a 10/12 bolt hump in it, it has to have been a V8 originally. |

Yep still think it is a steal at $15k even if it is cr@ppy. If it is in good nick then even better. Doesn't matter what it is even base model six. Just watch a few rusty hulks go through Ebay. Happy hunting. Nick. |

Ok so round 1 did not go well. It's still there.but he's gone back to being hesitant. That said he started up a conversation and started to swing around like last time. I'll let it soak in for a week then give it another go.

On the weekend I had cash. Jumper pack . Spare battery and if all that failed I had a mates tilt tray 500 meters around the corner waiting. It would have been paid for and gone within 5 minutes.

Ha ha thats gotta be frustrating mate. Hope you get it eventually and just from your description I'd buy it for $25K without even looking at a photo so yes $15K is a good deal for a registered drivable V8 HK coupe. Thats would be my new daily driver if I had it. Good luck.

Devo Any further progress? If you are at $15K and he is a bit higher, just pay what he wants. It'll be worth it, and still way under value. This bargain disappeared from eBay earlier this year with a highest bid of $15K. Not sure if it actually sold but haven't seen it since. I guess the one you are looking at is slightly better. http://www.fastlane.com....opic.asp?TOPIC_ID=30283

No progress yet.i was down Canberra way helping my old man. He's a bit hard to figure out . I think he will sell just need to catch him on the right day. Might break out the big guns and take my little girl down. Play the future family car scenario. s*** if that other thing goes for $15,000 I won't hassle to hard on this one. It's mint compared .
Cheers
