Need to know the best way to remove the armature shaft brass bush and steel retainer in the end of the wiper motor cover (preslite brand) Also when these are removed will the steel retainer clip be ok to reuse when re assembling it?

Hi Gerard. I haven't seen the Prestlite one before. Does it have a separate steel staked ring, or a spring steel bearing retaining ring with fingers pressed directly into the housing? I have a Lucas one to do at the moment, which has the spring steel retainer pressed into the housing directly. I intend to make a small puller to remove the retainer. The magnets might be a challenge too. Edited by user Wednesday, 4 February 2015 10:15:32 AM(UTC)

gm5735. I have never pulled one of these apart before so not sure of the correct terms for the these parts. Will attach a photo, this might help in determining the best way to proceed . The brass armature bush behind the retainer is floating (rose joint/ball joint style) From what I can see the bush looks ok so if this is a tricky part to remove I might temporarily seal this area and restore the cover. Thanks for the reply. https://docs.google.com/...nc/edit?usp=docslist_api
