Back to HK floorpans! Yes Jack, I agree it's a healthy discussion. No slur intended.

The initial question was:
"How many different shapes or configurations are there for factory produced floorpans for the HK..."

A definition of configuration is:- "to put together or arrange the parts of in a specific way or for a specific purpose"
Regardless of how many pressings there were (4 perhaps) there are many more configurations possible by arranging brackets, holes, risers and other parts, no matter at what stage of production they were done.

No and yes. HJ-HZ cabin with HQ style front panels and cowl to match. (except for ambulance package tonners (HJ-HZ) which had the same series Premier nose).

No, only Ambulance packs (special vehicle package BO6). The rest were the same style front as a HQ tonner.

Thanks all, I think I like the way Byron simply put it. There are 2 basic variations: M21/M22 4 Speed and the rest. I'd say most cars fitted with M21/M22 also had a salisbury and therefore the hump that goes with.

Sort of, and that statement is more applicable to HK than HT/G. M21 was the standard 4spd in HK commercials and they used a banjo, but all HK V8 4spd had a 10-bolt. HT-HG was different as 253 4spd were banjo.

Just a question in relation to the apparent 3 different Opel shifters. I know of the one for a console shift car and one for bench seat, but what is the third one? (I have a HK Kingswood 186s / opel bench seat car). Also what would be the approximate build date for the car - firewall number HK16834B, long tag 80369KH113161 and body tag HK369M-15550B. Thanks.

It is very close to my red GTS327 HK166xxBB and HK837M-154xxB. Its body was originally built and painted during late August 1968 IIRC but not assembled until October as there were no 0509 327 engines for Acacia Ridge. It waited for the 0713 engines.

The 3rd shifter you can see in the HK sales brochures. It appears to be a rectangular section with a little cast box that goes around it. You can sort of see it here, middle photo:

Thanks for that. Have you actually seen a shifter with the cast surround "in the flesh". So mine would be a 1968 car? I don't have the engine / gearbox cast dates in front of me but they are both 1968.

I looked at a very early build HK Premier which was discussed on here around 2 years ago. It was a one owner 186s opel 4 speed. It was a bucket seat car and never had a console. Just the boomerang type gearstick. Apparently later HK's got the console around the time the monaro was released.

Yes, around August 1968. If you want I can get a better approximation for Ben Stewart.

I don't recall ever seeing the early bucket seat type shifter. I've only ever seen the console shift styles and the HR looking one.

There is a little mystery surrounding this 'cast box'.

I've seen many of the HR style shifters in early HK, with the round shaft lever. I've also seen later cars (even the HT I mentioned earlier) which have the flat shaft 'hockey stick' shift lever, however these just had a rubber boot at the floor. I have never actually seen one of these cast boxes in the flesh.

Were they a production reality, or is the one depicted in the brochure unique

I've never seen one either. I think it details them in the Engineering manuals and as far as i'm aware it was only very early HK production, possibly didn't even make volume production, so maybe only those 1967 assembled cars that got it and some other early production. Most would be Elizabeth builds hence probably why we've never seen them up here.

Ben's response is early September 1968 (I was out by a week or so). The steering column and box if original will also help nail it.

He says the PSN will be H118131 as H113161 is way too early.

He asked what the TRIM line is for the car and also what type of stick is in the car? Is it the square-section stick and the plastic escutcheon surrounding the seal? Or the round style stick?

Sorry about the slow reply. It is a round style shifter (I have 2 more Opel gearboxes both with round style shifter). Trim code is 356-18F. The long tag is 80369KH118161.
