Hi,

I have a few questions regarding a car myself and my other half own. Well, him more than me. :)

He has a 1976 50th Anniversary HX Kingswood. In the gold with gold top. Apologies that im probably not describing too well. It is in original condition with the original 180,000ks on the clock. We have the original 50th aniversary hub caps, unused gold keys and the registration plates from when it was first bought. It is in fantastic condition. No problems with it whatsoever.

We are thinking of selling it to help us complete a project car. And i'm looking for any information on how much we should be asking for and where would be good to advertise to sell such a car. We have been offered $12,000 for it so far. But that was when we werent yet looking to sell it.

Any information at all would be helpful.

Thank you.

Ayla.

$12k isn't too bad for a 4.2L HX Kingswood. There is nothing all that special about a 50th anniversary car though, it is the condition and kM that will sell it more than it being a 50th anniversary special. The main special thing about these is they are 2-tone metallic. GMH tried this in HT GTS with Monaco maroon and Verdoro green and also on metallic HT Brougham. But must have been a pain in the @rse as they never really tried it again properly until Shadowtone Commodores - the 50th anniversary have it but it swaps colour across the stainless vinyl roof mould.

If it were mine i'd advertise it for somewhere between $15k-$19k and sell ono. Any nice mid-age Holden with a V8 under $20k will get interest.

As you have the keys I presume you also have the key ring?

These cars have a few "comfort" options that make it worth a little more than your standard Kingswood, like T bar and buckets. But you will need to find someone who can see the value in having the gold keys with special emblem etc, otherwise, as Byron said, just about the same as any other Kingswood. Not sure about the V8, the delux had the V8 and the 50th Anniversary was a 3.3 litre 6 cylinder.

If it is only a 6cyl then $12k is very good $. It probably is the Deluxe I was thinking about when I said V8, I wrecked out a blue one in the 90's.
