Hey Guys. I have got myself an 6cyl XA sedan and it's time to begin the resto. I have decided to make the replica of the XA in Mad Max film. the XA was the only 6 cylinder in the movie - the rest were V8's. Can anybody help me source some of the parts I need? any information would be greatly appreciated!
The parts I'm looking for is the front spoiler, the side moulds that bolt onto the front fenders, the roof racks with the two round (dome) blue lights, the rear roof spoiler, the decals and the type of wheels used.
I'm looking forward to this next resto to add to my middle age itch that I need to scratch.
cheers Phill.

Hello Castellan, Yes, Mad Max 1. I have Australian Muscle Car Magazine issue #55 with a replica of the black interceptor on the cover.
AMC interviewed Murray Smith who was the head mechanic. on P 57 & 130 Smith explains the XA was a 1972 6 cylinder ex-taxi. the car was known as "March Hare"
If you see in the movie it's the one with blowing all the smoke out of the single exhaust. The other two were V8's "Big Bopper" was a 302 ex-police chaser. and Max's first interceptor was a 351.
As for the blue lights I guess they are Hella??? Hella are a USA company.
Regards

Phill

I have the DVD and you hear a V8 note when the old XA turns over in the crash.
Yep it's hard to see what engine it has, must be as you say a 6 cyl.

Yes the March Hare XA was a 6 cyl. Mate of mine has the kits for the coupe. I'll ask him if anyone has bits for the XA.

Hi Castellan.
Yeh it sounds good on the DVD but I have read in AMC and not too many Ford fans would like this but,,, that was the sound doubed from a Monaro. lol. It was recorded from one of the mechanics and put in the movie (shhh don't let the holden guys know that!!! LOL)
Paul351xb - that would be realy great if you can have a chat to your mate about the XA & XB parts.
I think the flares for the guards are for a Torana SLR 500??? I'm not too sure on this but any feed back would be taken into concideration. I can get the spoiler (wing) for the roof from America who do supply coupe parts including Sunray wheels, Lights etc. but the hardest parts to find are the front spoilers XA & XB also the bonnet spoiler for the XA. these spoilers must be off some other car or built for show or racing. once again any information about these spoilers would be fantastic!
I'm picking up a XB sedan on Wednesday. so now I'll be doing the XA interceptor and XB persuit. should be exciting only if I can get these parts. so if I can gather these parts I will do the XA & XB replicas.
cheers guys.

Hi Paul. Sorry if I sound like a ball breaker. but have you had a chat to your mate yet about the parts?
I don't mean to push you. I know at times there's not enough hours in a day. but too many at work!
Cheers Phill

OK I heard back. No go sorry Phill. He said MFO garage in Victoria are supposed to have parts but he's never used them and I can't find reference to them on Google. Have you tried mad max movie cars?

Hey paul,
Thanks for getting back to me. Thanks for the link too!. I got hold of a guy called Mick at Radier Industries in Brisbane. I will contact him via email and see what he has for me. He said he can help so that's a positive step in the right direction!
Cheers Phill.
