HR Premier sedan, probably Adelaide. Paint should be: 510 Grecian White 585-9562 Trim ? James |
You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

I have 122 as 186 with disc brakes and also powerglide which is also given up by the A after 235. This also means the body is a Dandenong body. It should have a Dandenong PSN plate on it although I have seen a QLD assembled, Dandenong bodied HR before but I think there was something different about the body plate for that car. Are you sure the last character is a 4? Is it an M? |

F52 is front bucket seats & black interior trim (post July 67).
JBM is correct, I believe the paint shade number should be 9562 for Grecian White.
Can you confirm the 186/disc brake combo, as HK1837 has mentioned for the 122 code ?

It will be 186 for certain Terry. From what I understand 0 is 161H, 1 is 186A, 2 is 186K X2, 3 is 161L. I'm near certain 2 is powerglide. It is the lsd that divides amongst drum, disc, power drum, LSD, diff ratio, steer or whatever other mechanical options and combinations of options were accounted for in the coding (they can't all be accounted for obviously in 9 digits). It changed to 4 digits when 186S replaced X2 and 186S was optioned and also then the codes moved around again when the 4spd option was available and exercised. |

Do you think that power drums would be listed as part of thIs numbering system ?AFAIK when when power drums was optioned, the selling dealer just fitted a NASCO kit, just like radios or heaters. Also rear axle ratios weren't a normally optioned item back then, were they ? Each engine/trans combination would have a defined ratio. In later series, you could option a 'performance' or 'economy' diff ratio, but were HD/HRs like that ? The 3.90 taxi/commercial ratio may have been an exception. Given that, can LSD, drums, discs & p/steer fit into the number of possible numbering combinations. What other items do these 'pack numbers' define. Dr Terry |

As I alluded to in my post that detail is not yet clear Terry. We know disc and drum brakes make a difference to the lsd of the number, and that otherwise near identical cars have been found with different codes like 122 and 126 so there must be other variables in play. Going by the 70's Betsbac codes this is most likely a mixture of steering, LSD and axle ratios. You may well be correct that power drums are not coded, just like they aren't in the Betsbac codes. Enough cars or original vehicle books are yet to come up to solve it any further.
