Hi all, hope you can help - I've got a problem thats driving me nuts!!! I have been trying to tune my motor 250 2v running on lpg and on acceleration its fine ; when cruising slowly at part throttle, tho, it bucks and heaves and carries on which makes it a pain to drive in traffic... I've done points, plugs and maybe this is a hint, fixed about 50 % of the problem repairing leaky vac advance hose... I'm wondering if vac advance unit is sticky, causing advanced ign timing at high vaccum - also worth noting that motor is getting very old and worn but trying to keep it going while I save for a new motor...Any suggestions/tips you might have will be really appreciated. Thanks!

I had LPG on my GXL for about 10 years. Very reliable. Only 2 things ever caused problems. 1. The 1 inch GANN hose between the convertor and the mixer can split. (its usually wire-wound, I am assumung you have this kind of system, not positive feed?) Wh

Thanks Bill - I've been casting a bit of an eye toward the gas - while trying to fix the ignition up and blaming that for all my dramas, and as I write this I'm remembering that the gas guy suggested replacing the hose - and i just thought he was after a

Hi Bill, My hat is off to you, mate! You suggested the gas line - which was OK but pointed out to me that the fitting in the convertor the hose goes on to was as loose as... I just reworked the metal clamp that holds this fitting in and it runs absolutel

Cool, its not that hard to set the timing by ear, but if you go too far it will ping. The instructions that came with my MSD say to advance the timing as much as you can without encountering excessive starter load. Good thing about gas is you can advance

Yep, know what you mean about the costs - which really is why I want to keep the 2V with gas - when its running nice its powerful enough, but its the cheapness of running it that really makes me smile... I have a 1 hour drive to work thru rushhour at the

Well, i reckon you've just scared me away from a 351!! Ideally I'd love to go EFI 302 windsor with 5 speed - and there is a guy in Qld who is mucking around with direct LPG injection...gives 20-40% increase over Super cos of the intercooler effect of the

The poor fuel economy is mainly because of the high stall convertor. The engine is doing 2500 rpm at 70, 80 and 90Ks at part throttle and it doesnt seem to be doing the right revs below 90. It still does 2500 at 100km/h (the right revs for a 3.0:1 diff.)

Would you please be able to send me the contact details of the person who is playing around with the LPG direct injection, I have been thinking about doing this myself on my car.
Many thanks
