G'day Guys,
<p>
A farmer down the road from me has a XC GS Ute with an original 164,000kms. Still has the original orange/red paint with twin gold pin stripes along the side of the ute & alloy wheels. The vehicle has a 302 (not factory)& is automatic with rego. Has no visible rust as the vehicle has always been garaged & cared for. He wants $1500 - does this sound like a bargain??
Would appreciate some advice...

Will do with the photos. Am I correct in saying there was no XC GS? It was an X-pack was it not?? As I understand, the GS finished with the XB.

GS was still available on the XC. GS had sports dash, bonnet and spotties in the grille. Not too many had a GS stripe on the side of the car like the XBs but they were GS non the less.

The 4.9 V8 on the XC came in 4-barrell form.
What was it at the time that made a 4-barrel carbie more desirable compared to the XB 302?

Also, the XC GS Ute has a 302 but it originally had a six. How can I tell the age (etc) of the 302 when lookin

There certainly WAS an XC GS. Also called a rally pack. It had bonnet scoops, over riders, sports instrumants, clock, 12 slotters with black hubcaps, map reading light, soft feel steering wheel,and driving lights and GT fuel cap. Could be ordered on Falco

Thanks Bill & Paul,

Bought the XC GS ute this evening for $600 unregistered. Will send you an email with pictures in the next week. Might draw upon you both from time to time as I restore it to its former glory! Do you each have an email address

The 4 barrell carbs were fitted to all Ford V8 models from XC on. They were fitted to meet the pollution requirements of ADR27A introduced in July 1976. The carb is called a Carter Thermoquad. The main body is made of black plastic.
