EA 6 CFI manual, starts but appears to run on 5 and very rich. Rev it up,and it clears after 10-15 secs. Plugs, leads, cap, rotor, compressions all OK. Swapped MAP sensor and TPS as per computer codes but no better. Any ideas????

It sounds a bit like a small corroded hole in the head on number 5 cylinder or a dodgy head gasket. have you had any tests done to find out if it's pressurising the cooling system? is it using water?

I reckon it's oiling the no5 plug and then decarboning it after a short drive. Does a blow a tad of blue smoke when it 1st starts in the morning (cold start)?

My EA had the same symptoms which gradually progressed to a point where I had to take the head off and have it welded. If you've only owned it for a few weeks I would strongly suggest that you keep a close eye on your coolant levels. What point does the
