Ive got a rebuilt 308 that came out of a statesman, and im wondering if its legal to put this motor into my vk commodore? I heard that be law your not alowed to put an older motor (than the cars age) in a newer car. is this true? if so, i wont bother, but im looking at buying a set of vn heads and injection gear to chuck onto that motor and then put into my vk. another thing, will an efi cam fit in my motor? also, what gearbox should i be looking at? t5's are exensive but should bolt onto my motor since its a turbo pattern. What are the other options? example supra etc? i guess if its not possible ill just sell the motor and put the money towards a new motor. all thoughts appreciated

I think if u retain ur pollution controls such as EGR and PCV then its ok? I really dont know, u shoud ask ur local dept of transport.

but YES EFI cams must be used in VN head conversions as the valve layout is different for EFI.

Cheers

That's a good conversion. I've got a 304 EFI hooked up to a T5 in my HZ ute and it goes really well. The T5 syncs really well with the 3.36 diff I'm running.

The deal with engine swaps are that you must comply with the emission stds of what ever is
