Hi guys,


I am considering dropping a Commodore V6 into a HK as an economical cruiser. I can get a cheap commodore wreck no problems. But is it easier to buy a conversion kit from say "V6 conversions" or attempt to do it all your self?? What do you actually get in the kit for the $1400. Who has done this conversion and what tips and tricks did you use?

Currently doing this conversion into my HK pano. VN series 1 and auto. It will be up on oldholden.com soon.
For $1400 you get a sump, dipstick tube, engine mounts and bolts, rear gearbox crossmember, wiring loom, speedo sensor and cable, oil pickup and

Where did you get the kit? CRS or V6 Conversions? the vague set of instructions suggest the former to me.


I want to avoid a rough looking sump.

Kit is from V6conversions.
A few more things im finding out, If using a Series 1 motor you cant use the radiator unless you use the seperate surge tank. The better option is to use a Series 2 radiator as it has the filler cap on the actual radiator tank

That also a bugger about the untidy sump. As I have 2 sumps maybe I will try to weld the bottom of a red engine sump onto the top of the V6 sump & see what I get.

Some pics of the progress are up. http://gallery.oldholden.com/HK-VN-V6 I'm going to get a new Series 2 radiator they are only $185new/$125second hand. Good idea about putting the series 2 manifold on.
