Hi All,
I am about to fit a 350 Chev into a HT Monaro. It was a factory 6 and someone has advised me that the V8 ones that came from the factory had a bigger/tougher crossmember. This person went on to say that my 6 cyl crossmember will crack if I dont change it. Suspension & brakes have already been upgraded.
Can anyone advise on if this person is correct?? I have never been told this before, and now I am worried..
Cheers, RevHead

I was advised some years ago that the 6 cyl crossmembers were made of thinner guage steel. It was an engineer from the then RTA engineering section that told me, so maybe he wasn't on drugs. Although I recall that they would still allow the conversion - b

The six cylinder crossmembers don't crack what happens is the sides of the crossmember below the engine mountings on each side collapse slightly and bulge out.You then can't get a correct wheel alignment. There is a modification of getting strengthening pl

Rev.Head have you considered using a CRS (Castlemaine Rod Shop) X member? I have one in my hg monaro, it fits well & provides plenty of clearance for headers unlike the originals which need to be modified if you have collectors.....D

I hope nothing "Significant" is dug up about the solids because i've sold the Prem and i'll prolly be kicking myself for not swapping it to a holey one to tuck away for the Munro. Do you know what your solid came out of ?
